FDSME-RMI
MEI works with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences to facilitate a successful Family Diabetes Self-Management Program in Majuro. According to UAMS, the program has resulted in significant improvements with participants experiencing reductions in both hemoglobin A1C and Body Mass Index. First started in Majuro, the program is now being implemented in Hawaii and Arkansas.

Nutrition and Food Security
MEI works with partner organizations to combat food instability within the Marshallese community in Northwest Arkansas. MEI participates in the Community of Practice cohort, hosts SNAP events, and helps Marshallese enroll in the SNAP program and other public benefits like Medicaid.

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, MEI helped start a Marshallese COVID-19 Task Force and provided Marshallese families with food, utility, housing, and funeral assistance. Working with partner organizations, including APIAHF, we launched a COVID-19 prevention and vaccination program (also flu vaccination) that continued through 2025. Today, the team continues to assist community members to help them navigate life in the United States. Programs focus on food sustainability, diabetes management, and newborn screening program (Majuro and Ebeye).
