Programs

MEI's Arts and Humanities programs include Language Access programming, history and culture classes and trainings, youth arts workshops, and the Songs of Our Atolls project, which brings youth and elders together to share traditional songs and stories. 

MEI team members met with the RMI Ministry of Health and Human Services leadership team to discuss the Newborn Screening program. The program, available at hospitals in Majuro and Ebeye, screens for congenital hypothyroidism and is the first of its kind in the Marshall Islands and all of Micronesia.​​​​​​​​

In addition to NBS, MEI's health programming also focuses on disability and diabetes management. ​

MEI the Podcast covers a range of issues, from navigating life in diaspora, youth challenges, and the nuclear legacy.

MEI staff pose with Black River Technical College staff before a recruitment event in Pocahontas, Arkansas. The partnership brings Marshallese high school students to BRTC to be trained in the medical field and ready to enter the workforce on completion of HS.

MEI's programming in education works to raise educational attainment and retentions levels, assists with federal financial aid for higher education, and offers mentoring services.​

MEI's Nuclear Legacy program serves as our primary work in that the barriers our community faces stem from this legacy. We educate our nuclear history and its consequences, and advocate for policies and laws that promote nuclear justice.

MEI works to reduce domestic violence and sexual assault among our community, and to uplift and empower Marshallese women and girls. ​​
