MEI the Podcast

MEI the Podcast is a unique audio-visual series designed by Marshallese to amplify Marshallese voices. This podcast shares our rich cultural heritage and delves deeply into important social, historical, and political issues that impact the Marshallese community both in the islands and in diaspora. Social justice topics, which align closely with MEI’s broader mission of activism and advocacy, include gender-based violence, health disparities, and nuclear justice. Led by MEI team members, the podcast is intended to foster youth leadership while strengthening connections to cultural heritage.

The podcast is co-hosted by Marcina Langrine, MEI's Operations Coordinator, and Matthew John, an MEI staff member who also composes the theme music for the series. Marino Morris, an MEI Project Specialist, is responsible for co-producing and editing the episodes, alongside Dr. Jessica Schwartz, MEI Co-Founder and Academic Advisor, who handles post-production.

Episodes range from 30 minutes to over an hour, depending on the topic and guest. To ensure accessibility, transcripts of each episode are made available. Listeners can tune in to MEI the Podcast on platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iHeart Radio, Amazon Music, Acast, and various streaming services, and promoted through MEI's social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
